THE BIG SWITCH ON
Thursday, 14th November - 4pm to 6pm
Oxford Street, Harrogate
Christmas Shop
Window Competition 2019
(How to
enter and Judging Criteria)
The Harrogate at Christmas Group work throughout the
year to raise money for the Harrogate Christmas lights and to promote our
town to encourage residents to stay in Harrogate to shop
locally…celebrate locally… and to encourage visitors to Harrogate to
support the local economy.
In its 11th year, Harrogate at Christmas is a group of volunteers,
chaired by John Fox, who work to raise the money for the
Christmas lights to ensure that Harrogate sparkles at Christmas. No
members of the group are retailers or town centre property owners. Many
people believe that Harrogate Borough Council pay and install the Christmas
lights but, unlike many other towns, they don’t. We need to raise at least
£30,000
Simply put, without them there would be no Christmas lights –
how would that affect shoppers, businesses and our popularity?
In 2014 with the Tour de France Harrogate showed
the world why it is the jewel in the Yorkshire crown. Harrogate is
regularly voted the happiest place to live in the UK, so let’s decorate our town for a
great 2019 Christmas.
Harrogate Borough Council kindly match-fund up
to a maximum of £10,500, which means Harrogate at Christmas have to raise money first to receive
this critical backing! They also receive invaluable support from Stray FM,
Harrogate Advertiser, Harrogate College, The Harrogate Bus Company,
Harrogate District Chamber, Harrogate Business Improvement District,
Victoria Shopping Centre, Harrogate Lions, Rotary Club of Harrogate and
Soroptimist Harrogate and District
but we also need your help!
If you are keen to promote Harrogate at
Christmas, please help now!
