We are a relatively newly-formed four-piece jazz band and have busked in Harrogate four times receiving great feedback from the Harrogate public. The band consists of a saxophone, keyboard, drum kit and bass guitar, and we are 15 and 16 years old. We typically play well known jazz standards, as well as funk music

Casual Sax

Casual Sax was set up by a Yorkshire based group who met at a saxophone course in the Midlands. Since then they have played regularly at events throughout Yorkshire, including Ouseburn, Dunnington, Bradford, Tollerton and in Nidderdale. Their repertoire includes classical and contemporary pieces. They have taken part in several charity and fund raising events and  have also played at the Wensleydale Music Festival and private functions.

Chris Lain & Stuart McLachlan

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Stuart-Mclachlan-Chris-Lain-2060245430663817/

Stuart and Chris met in India 21 years ago when they were both working there and played together for a few years in New Delhi as members of the Hanji String Band. Fast forward to February 2018 when Stuart contacted Chris to suggest getting together again. Stuart is a prolific songwriter and he felt that his material would suit Chris’s voice. They have been recording together since then and produced their first album This Restless Life in November last year. Tracks from the album and songs produced since then can be heard at:   https://www.reverbnation.com/stuartmclachlan/songs

and on their website: http://mclachlan-lain.com.

Stuart and Chris hope to raise money for the British Lung Foundation. They had a great time busking at the Christmas Market in 2018 are delighted that Wiggy, their percussionist, will be joining them once again - as last year, dressed as an elf!

Den Miller

Website:  www.denmiller.com

I am singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Keighley and play at many festivals all around the North and other outdoor events such as Keighley Christmas Lights Switch-on. I perform mostly my own songs on guitar or keyboard (or both at once with my loop pedal), and harmonica. My music has been described as strongly melodic with intelligent lyrics. My songs often use comedy to make serious points, and I also perform comedy parodies.

Singing Mums

Facebook:  www.facebook.com/singingmums

Singing Mums is a pop/rock choir for women of all ages and singing abilities, with groups in Harrogate, Leeds and Wakefield. When we’re not pampering ourselves with picnics and prosecco evenings, we enjoy singing a range of uplifting songs, both modern and older, using simple but effective three-part harmonies.

It’s a great way to make new friends and sing and laugh away the worries and stresses of your week. At Singing Mums, we believe music and singing to be extremely beneficial for your wellbeing and happiness. Many medical professionals and mental health groups are now recommending people join choirs, due to the amount of feel-good endorphins released.

A lot of our ladies find Singing Mums very important in helping to improve their mental health and happiness, therefore we will be raising money for local mental health charity, Mind in Harrogate and District.

Songbirds

We are a group of 5 mature ladies who have been together for about 20 years. Over the years we have all taken part in various amateur musicals but as a group have performed in many different venues. We have an extensive repertoire and a particularly good Christmas programme.

Spa Sax Quintet

Facebook:  www.facebook.com/SpaSax

Based in Harrogate, the Spa Saxophone Quartet or Quintet has an extensive repertoire and can provide music in a number of styles for weddings, corporate events, garden parties and during the festive season. This Christmas the Group will be raising money for Mental Health UK playing at various venues in and around Harrogate.
